To Be a Tree

One of the themes from Mama's Like a Bird Now that has stuck with me since I wrote the poem was the vision of myself as a tree.  As I captured my mother's essence in the imagery of a bird, the thought of her sitting on my shoulder always makes me stand up a little taller.  To Be a Tree represents the continuation of my life through my evolving understanding of my views on the world and life, and my place in both.
