My Heart Is Full

My heart is full
And it’s because of you that I recognize that all I can do is pray
Pray to say that if I had things my way
You’d be here with me now
But trusting in the somehow
For it is between the ‘e’ and the ‘h’ that miracles are found
And it is between the you and I that love is sound
Solid and pure
I may not be sure
But I surrender to this rhythm playing on my heart’s drum
As my vocal chords begin to let out a hum
And my hips start to swivel like a figure 8
Tapping my foot like I can’t wait
For this song is one of love
And you are the melody, sung in the key
To which no other instrument can be tuned
And I, I dance
As if this is my first romance
And my last
So do not cast your seeds on rocky ground
But sow only in fertile soil
Because useless will be your toil
If you do not start with the elements of growth
But slow and steady wins the race
So my dear, tie your shoelace, and set your pace, and look me in the face
And know that I am sincere in all I do, say, think, and feel about you
But now we must go through this fire
If we want to go higher
And I admire you – but not as much as I desire you – in your God-given state of greatness
So embrace this
And know that I got your back in whatever you lack
I’m your help meet in whatever you seek
Designed before you even knew to ask
Delivered with only one given task
For which I am fully equipped
We stumbled and tripped
But we kept on walking
Talking, as though we had this all figured out
So don’t you dare now doubt
Why our paths converge
But continually resist the urge to turn back the hands of time
Surround yourself with the sublime
Rid yourself of grit and grime
Commit yourself to this upward climb
And whatever you do:
DON’T LOOK DOWN
Nor to your left or your right
Set your sight only on what is above
Anchor yourself in honest love
And don’t be alarmed by a tug and a pull
Because for you, my heart is full
