Steppin' Up

Like a mother once said to her son in a poem
Life for me ain’t been no crystal stair
But I'd like to say that it's been some steps
Cuz it's definitely leading somewhere
There have been trials and tribulations
High hurdles and setbacks too
There have been times I as so lost and confused
I really didn't know what to do
But here I am on a higher plane
Than I ever would have thought before
And the amazing part is I've got so much life left
I can't wait to see what's in store
so crystal or not, I'm stepping on
Cuz my staircase was made just for me
He knew exactly how to raise me up
With Him is where He wants me to be
I have the strength and the courage
To tackle this mighty stair
Because I know that when I need Him
He will always be right there
For just as the builder makes strong steps
To make sure they never fail
He is wise enough to think ahead
And install a safety rail
I'll hold on to Him when I need Him
Even hold on when I think I don't
I'll keep stepping up until there's no more steps to climb
And I know that when I finish, I'll be with Him, on the most High
