My Prayer for You
I spoke with God last night
And as I prayed, I prayed for you
And asked that whatever it is that you’re going through
Would be lifted from on top of you
But He reminded me that
You were His child before you were my friend
He knows what you can take
And what will make you break
And that He loves you far more than I ever could.
He reminded me that
While others may buckle, crumble, and fall
YOU are able to withstand it all
And that your spirit is strong and your heart is tough
You have SHINED the most when times were rough.
He reminded me that He gives you bad days, full of grief and gloom
To make sure that your heart always has room
For the good days that will fill your life with joy.
And just before I opened my eyes
He was sure to make me realize
That you could never be lost with friends like me
Friends who love you when you are up AND when you are down
Friends who will always be around
With an open heart and sheltering arms
Friends who will laugh and cry with you
Ask the universe “WHY?” with you
Friends who know that
Before you were human, you were an angel
And the only prayer you need
Is that you never forget.
