The Blog of TMB

I couldn't bring myself to get rid of the old blog posts, even though my thoughts and feelings have changed for many of them.  But, here, I will be sharing my thoughts and feelings, as authentically as I have ever.  In this, you will see my growth, my healing, my journey.  You will see some of what's behind the poetry.  You might even see some of yourself. I hope my words bless you as much as the sharing of them blesses me.

No Greater Endeavor

“There is no greater endeavor than the process of developing a deeper connection with God.”

I read those words this morning and they resonated very loudly in my spirit.  I know that in life, I’ve embarked on many great “endeavors”.  From obtaining my college degree to raising children, from establishing a career to writing a book, and from building friendships to looking for a lifelong partner and mate, I have given  my time, attention, energy, resources, and talents to a lot of different undertakings.  There were times when I placed these projects, ventures, and milestones ahead of my health – sacrificing to the point where I have barely nothing left of myself.  As I read the above quote this morning, I was convicted with the consideration of how often I have allowed everything and everyone else to come before God. How is it that I can devote everything I have in me to everything outside of me, and NOT give it all to the One who made everything I am and everything I have?  What if, instead of giving my time to the world, I gave my time to the Most High?  Knowing that every second of my life has been granted to me by Him and Him alone, isn’t it only appropriate that I dedicate my time to doing that which He has placed inside of me?  What if, instead of giving my attention to those whose attention I seek, I focus my sights on the One who has wants nothing more than to commune with me?  Have you ever had a friend that never seems to be available when you need?  Have you ever felt like the people you make time for don’t care enough to do the same for you?  I know I have, soooooo many times! And yet, I know that God is there, desperately waiting to hear from me.  It saddens me to think of all the times I called on someone else first, when all I had to do was close my eyes and bow my head.  All I have to do is be still and know that He is God (Psalm 46:10).  I have done everything for the approval and attention of men who, at the end of the day, could not be swayed give me that which my heart desired.  And yet, my Lord only wants for me to delight myself in Him (and isn’t there PLENTY to inspire delight!?!?!?!) and He will give me the desires of my heart (Psalm 37:4).  If I spent my energy, resources, and talents towards things that would bring glory and honor to His name, they would indeed be well spent.  If I used them to draw me closer to my Source of everything, I’d never be without, for He will replenish all that I give.

As I approach my 31st birthday and my 32nd year of life, I’m making a commitment to develop a closer connection with my God.  I will give my time, attention, energy, resources, and talents to Him first.  Everyone and everything else will just have to get in line!  Because truly, there is no greater endeavor….and no greater return on my investment!

    The Point of this Blog:

For those times when I just have to write.

For those times when I feel like my experience is not unique and that my thoughts/feelings could benefit others.

For the times when I feel like my authenticity and transparency will make the difference between someone feeling alone and someone feeling seen, heard, understood, and loved.

It will be like me:  all over the place. So don't look for a theme beyond being a sincere expression of my thoughts and feelings at the time.
