The Blog of TMB

I couldn't bring myself to get rid of the old blog posts, even though my thoughts and feelings have changed for many of them.  But, here, I will be sharing my thoughts and feelings, as authentically as I have ever.  In this, you will see my growth, my healing, my journey.  You will see some of what's behind the poetry.  You might even see some of yourself. I hope my words bless you as much as the sharing of them blesses me.

An open letter to those that love me

It is with a heavy heart that I petition your love, patience, and understanding as I seek to restore my heart and peace of mind.  You see, if there’s anything that my 32 years in life have taught me, it’s that this world can be a dark, scary, lonely, and fucked up place.  There are evil human beings that are capable of the most atrocious acts that my mind cannot even comprehend their purpose.  Why breath would continue to grace the lungs of selfish individuals who seek to destroy, take what’s not theirs, and cause hurt, pain, and suffering upon the lives of others who mean no one harm is beyond me. Frankly, I’m tired.  I’m tired of seeing good-hearted people in pain. And I’m tired of being one.  I’m tired of seeing success fall at the feet of those who deserve it least while struggle and strife follows those that deserve the utmost of happiness.  For reasons that I will never understand, someone took from me a choice that was mine and mine alone to make. And in the process, they robbed me of a peace of mind that I took so long to find. The solace and the comfort of knowing that I can safely live in a world where things beyond my control continue to affect my life was fought for and earned.  I worked HARD to heal the broken pieces of my heart.  I surrounded myself with love and lovely people until I was reminded that there’s a lot of GOOD in this world.  I sought counseling and I was JUST getting to a place of understanding and acceptance.  I found serenity in changing the things I could and accepting the things I could not.  I was there, I really was.  And I was happy.  But now, I’m scared and I’m angry and I’m hurt.  I went to a party about a year ago, and I woke up, alone and naked with a sore vagina.  And the last thing I remember is being handed a drink by the same individual I was later told was the last person to be seen with me that night.  I have neither proof nor recollection, but I’m almost certain that this person took advantage of me.  This person raped me.  And that’s not right.  My first instinct was to suppress this, and for over a year, I’d done a good job.  To some extent, I believe I convinced myself this didn’t happen. Then my next instinct was to blame myself.  I know better than to accept an open drink. I know better than to trust random people, no matter how nice, friendly, or cool they seem.  I knew better.  But, I let my guard down and was so busy trying to have a good time and party like a rock star that I allowed myself to be in a compromising situation.  I’m not to blame, though. Whether he drugged me or not, I can’t say.  But, he knew good and damn well that I was not in the presence of mind to consensually have sex with him.  And previously, when I was sober, I had rejected his advances for several reasons.  Whether I was even conscious or not when this happened, I also cannot say. All I know is this realization has hit me hard, and it’s gonna take a lot for me to get back to where I was.  So, forgive me in advance.  I’m not really in a good place, and I don’t know how to get back there.  I ask for your love, patience, and understanding as I figure out how to cope and heal.  I’m uncertain about where this process will lead me, or through what, exactly. But it’s probably not gonna be pretty.  Feel free to delete or block me if you feel necessary; I won’t be upset.  I wasn’t even going to share this as I’m doing now.  But fuck that and fuck him.  I’ve got a voice and that is one thing he can’t take from me.  As with every other jacked up thing that’s happened in my life, I’m determined to make sure my pain is not in vain.  If I can help just one woman prevent this from happening to her…..

Just bear with me and please, pray for me.  This too shall pass.

Sincerely,

Tanya

P.S. FUCK RICK ROSS TOO

You know I'm always here for you. We have known each other for a long time, and if you need me, I'm here. I'm sure you already know that, but I just wanted to put it in writing so that you can see it any time that you need to see it.

You're a great friend and I love you. You know that too, but hey, it never hurts to see it.

I am very proud of you for speaking out! We discussed it and you know I am here and will always be. Like I said pray and don't worry about him, don't give him that power to rob you once again. Speaking out is the first step in finding some kind of comfort from within. I love you and no I would not delete you no way no how! Always remember it is not your fault!!!

Tanya, I can't believe this is the first time I'm hearing about this. I may be your little sister, but i comprehend way more than people give me credit for, and you KNOW that i could have been a great help to you. I'm always here for you T. And I don't want you to think that you can't come to me because of my age. There is no age restriction when it comes to us. You know you can tell me anything, and even though i haven't lived for 32 years and i don't nearly have the experience that you do, you can still come to me. You know this T. I love you ! And also , add on to what Maylin said . I love you sis, and I always will.

Tanya, Your are so inspirational and brave and you lend a voice to so many silent sufferers. It sounds like you have many people who surround you that care and love you, I for one am inspired by your strength and offer myself to you as one you can count on to call for support and my prayers will be with you.

tanya first off, NO its not yoir fault and don't believe that ever.it is this non caring, hate filled world we live in. I am glad you found the strength to speak and you are without a doubt one of the strongest, intelligent, and unfortunately caring people I know. I do wish that you would have said something earlier, although I am still going to look into the matter and see if we can make not only this person pay for that but more to hopefully stop it from happening to another trusting and caring young lady.

you have more love than most even with all the bullshit life brings us all, and as Maylene says don't give him the power of taking the strength that you have exhibited helping even me to get past the screwed up happenings I have had to get past in my life. I LOVE YOU and please don't let this change who you are.

T - I am at a lost for words... my heart aches for you, and I pray that you heal in the way that YOU want to heal. I pray that as each day goes by that God will give you the peace that you need to move forward in life from such a painful and heartbreaking experience. We just talked about "masking" what is really going on in our lives, and I believe that breaking the silence is the first step to healing. I am sure that those you share this with can agree that we are with you all the way. Love you sis... I may not be in the neighborhood anymore, but I'm never too far away.

    The Point of this Blog:

For those times when I just have to write.

For those times when I feel like my experience is not unique and that my thoughts/feelings could benefit others.

For the times when I feel like my authenticity and transparency will make the difference between someone feeling alone and someone feeling seen, heard, understood, and loved.

It will be like me:  all over the place. So don't look for a theme beyond being a sincere expression of my thoughts and feelings at the time.
