I Am Afraid

I am afraid.
But I am brave enough to admit it,
Knowing that courage doesn't require the absence of fear.
Fear is only as powerful as I allow it to be.
I choose not to give it power over me.
Fear is a feeling, and every feeling is a message.
So fear is a lesson, coming to teach me -
Teach me about myself and what I need;
Teach me what's safe and what's not for me;
Teach me how to face life's challenges with integrity and grace,
Because I can
Do hard things, scary things, things that I have no fucking clue how they'll turn out;
Teach me that it's okay to not be okay,
But in the end, I always will be.
Fear can be my friend, if I let it.
Fear can
Build me up
Forcing me
To dig down
Deep inside
To find my roots and stand tall in the wind like a tree.
Fear can wash over me like a stream and take with it my doubts and insecurities as I let. it. go.
Go. to. God.
Go to the sea of all possibilities.
Go where I alone cannot go.
Fear can burn and blaze, setting fire to my deepest desires,
Revealing in the ashes that which is most important to me,
Smoke rising and signaling
TRANSFORMATION.
Fear is elemental.
Fear is energy - potential.
Fear is universal,
For to fear is human and to embrace it: DIVINE.
So here I stand, making peace with mine,
Grateful
For the courage to say
I am afraid.
